The six finalists are selected by their peers and will perform a mixed repertoire for a panel of judges, who will make the final decision. However, ENB's loyal public get a say, too: a People's Choice Award, voted by audiences throughout the season will be presented. As well, there will be a Corps de Ballet Award, to be decided by the company's artistic team.
This year's finalists all come from the lowest rank of the company, that of artist. and are an international bunch: hailing from Spain, Anna Ciriano finished her training ENB School and joined the company in 2022 after stints at Orlando Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet. Breanna Ford comes from Australia and joined ENB in 2018. She's already danced lead roles, namely in Mats Ek's The Rite of Spring. Japan's Shunhei Fuchiyama, has a couple of international awards under his belt. He joined ENB in 2021. Jose María Lorca Menchón, from Spain finished his training at ENB School and joined the company in 2021. Originally from Brazil, Thiago Pereira trained at Académie de Dance Princesse Grace in Monaco and joined ENB in 2022. Anna-Babette Winkler, from the UK, joined in 2018 and has since danced soloist roles such as Lead Winter in Christopher Wheeldon's Cinderella-in-the-round.
The four-strong jury is composed of eminent figures from the dance world, including the former Royal Ballet principal Edward Watson.
The one-off final at Sadler's Wells is shaping up as an exciting occasion; however, should you not be able to attend, the show will be available the following week on ENB's Youtube channel.
